Shopping local and supporting small seem to be big buzz words everywhere you look recently. That's because throughout the absolutely crazy year, small businesses have been riding the ups and downs and holding on for dear life.
Here at Sweetness, we have not been immune to the economic uncertainty and rapidly changing restrictions. We've lost business, had craft shows cancelled, changed and re-pivoted our marketing strategy roughly a million times. We took it one day at a time.
"Small businesses are important to the economic and social fabric of our society, and we all play a part in their survival." (Dayna Winter)⠀
Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Even if you can't support a small business with a purchase (because we know better than a lot of people, this year has been hard on all of our purses), do what you can. No amount of support is too small. If you can make a purchase, do it. If you can share a post or two, do it. If you can give their post a double tap, do it. We also appreciate positive vibes sent our way!
If you're looking to shop local and support small businesses this year, here are some great resources that showcase so many ambitious, scrappy, resilient small businesses who would absolutely love to help you check off every person on your list this year.
